Energetic properties

Yellow Jasper helps you achieve your goals and encourages taking action. It instills determination, perseverance, courage, and decisiveness. The stone reduces fear of conflict and strengthens resilience and assertiveness. It also promotes honesty, sincerity, and helpfulness while bringing balance to body, mind, and spirit. Additionally, it absorbs negative energy and protects against radiation and external influences. Yellow Jasper helps reduce physical tension and has a beneficial effect on the stomach, immune system, liver, and intestines.

Suitable for children from around 2 years old.

Formation

Jasper forms through hydrothermal processes and volcanic activity. It begins with silica-rich fluid solutions that penetrate cracks and cavities in rocks. These solutions contain dissolved silica (SiO₂) and other minerals.

As the solution cools, silica begins to crystallize around nucleation points, such as small crystals or organic material. This is known as epitaxial growth, where new crystals align with the original crystal structure.

During growth, additional minerals and pigments may be incorporated into the silica solution, resulting in the various colors and patterns seen in different types of jasper. These may include iron oxides, manganese oxides, and trace elements such as limonite and hematite. These minerals give yellow jasper its characteristic yellow to brownish hue.

The formation of jasper is a slow process that can take many years, resulting in compact, dense stones with banded or spotted patterns depending on the specific environmental conditions.

Etymology

The name comes from the Greek word 'iaspis' or the ancient Hebrew 'yashpheh', meaning "spotted stone". A reference to the distinctive patterns often found in jasper. "Yellow" refers to the color of this particular variety.

Care

Jasper is relatively hard and durable and doesn’t require special care. It can be cleaned under running water and gently patted dry with a soft cloth. It may also be cleansed and recharged using sage, incense or moonlight.

Origin

Common sources include Germany, India, Russia, South Africa, Brazil, Australia and the United States.

Availability

Yellow Jasper is widespread and generally not considered rare. However, quality and size can vary, and exceptionally large or high-quality specimens may be more valuable.
