Energetic properties

Green aventurine attracts luck, abundance, and wealth, making it a true stone of good fortune. It also boosts creativity, encourages empathy and compassion, and strengthens decision-making. In addition, the stone helps guide you toward fulfilling your dreams and supports the acceptance of anger and irritation. It protects against negative environmental influences such as pollution and electromagnetic radiation. Physically, green aventurine is known to help with skin rashes and allergic reactions.

Green aventurine is suitable for children.

Formation

Aventurine is a variety of quartz and forms in the same basic way as other quartz crystals. Quartz is a form of silicon dioxide (SiO₂) and is one of the most abundant minerals in the Earth's crust. Aventurine, however, contains inclusions that create its shimmering effect, known as aventurescence.

The most well-known type is green aventurine, which gets its color from chrome-bearing fuchsite inclusions. In some cases, aventurine may instead contain inclusions of hematite or goethite, which give the stone a yellow, orange, or brownish color.

Etymology

The name aventurine comes from the Italian word a ventura, meaning 'by chance' or 'accident'. It is said the stone was discovered by accident in the 18th century. Another story tells of a worker who accidentally dropped copper filings into molten glass, creating aventurine glass, which was later named avventurino. The gemstone was eventually named aventurine due to its resemblance to this sparkling glass.

Care

Green aventurine can be cleansed by rinsing it under running water and gently patting it dry with a soft cloth. Cleansing and recharging can also be done using sage, incense or moonlight.

Origin

Can be found in various countries around the world, but is primarily sourced from India, Russia, Brazil, Tanzania and China.

Availability

Green aventurine is not a rare crystal and is found worldwide. However, its quality and color can vary. In general, green aventurine is affordable and widely available in gem stores and online shops.
