Energetic properties
Dalmatian Jasper is grounding and protective, helping you stay firmly rooted. It supports the realization of goals and the transformation of ideas into action. The stone promotes determination, perseverance, decisiveness, and courage. It reduces fear of conflict and enhances resilience and assertiveness.
It also fosters honesty, sincerity, helpfulness, and brings balance to body, mind, and spirit. Dalmatian Jasper can help calm mental chatter, uplift your mood, and boost energy. It protects against radiation and negative influences. Jasper also helps you stand in your power and has a positive effect on cartilage, nerves, sprains, and reflexes.
Suitable for children from around 6 years old.
Formation
Dalmatian Jasper forms from a combination of different minerals, primarily quartz and tourmaline. It originates in volcanic areas where molten rock and minerals come together and cool under high pressure and temperature.
The distinctive black spots are typically tourmaline or iron oxides that blend with quartz and feldspar minerals. The crystallization of these minerals together creates the stone's unique speckled appearance.
Etymology
Dalmatian Jasper is named after its striking resemblance to the coat of a Dalmatian dog. The stone has a cream or beige base with scattered black spots, similar to the dog’s iconic markings.
Although it's called a jasper, it technically doesn't belong to the true jasper group, as it is a mix of several minerals including quartz and tourmaline. However, the term 'jasper' is often broadly applied to opaque stones, making it fitting in this context.
Care
Dalmatian Jasper is relatively hard and durable and doesn’t require special care. It can be cleaned under running water and gently patted dry with a soft cloth. It may also be cleansed and recharged using sage, incense or moonlight.
Origin
Can be primarily found in Mexico, where conditions favor its formation, though it can also be found in other parts of the world.
Availability
Dalmatian Jasper is relatively common and widely available. While it's not considered rare, quality and size can vary. Rare forms with internal inclusions or unusually large crystals may be more valuable.
