Energetic properties
Caramel jasper helps you pursue your goals and encourages taking action. It instills determination, perseverance, resilience, and assertiveness. It reduces fear of conflict and fosters inner strength and assertive behavior. At the same time, it promotes honesty, sincerity, and helpfulness, bringing balance to body, mind, and spirit.
This stone absorbs negative energy and protects against radiation and external negativity. Caramel jasper also offers protection during astral travel and helps to relieve physical tension. It has beneficial effects on the stomach, immune system, liver, and intestines.
Suitable for children from around 6 years old.
Formation
Jasper forms as a result of hydrothermal processes and volcanic activity. It begins with liquid silica-rich solutions that seep into rock fractures and cavities. These solutions contain dissolved silica (SiO₂) and various minerals.
As the solution cools, silica begins to crystallize around nucleation points, such as small crystals or organic material. This process, called epitaxial growth, leads to crystals that align with the orientation and structure of existing ones.
During growth, pigments and other minerals—like iron oxides, manganese oxides, limonite, or hematite—become trapped in the solution, producing the characteristic earthy tones and patterns of different jasper types. These elements give caramel jasper its warm caramel-like coloring.
Jasper forms slowly over many years and results in dense, compact stones with banded or spotted textures and a variety of color patterns depending on the minerals present during formation.
Etymology
The name 'jasper' comes from the Greek word 'iaspis' or the Old Hebrew 'yashpheh', both meaning 'spotted stone', referring to the speckled or patterned appearance common to jasper. The term 'caramel' refers to the stone’s warm, brownish-yellow hue.
Care
Caramel Jasper is relatively hard and durable and doesn’t require special care. It can be cleaned under running water and gently patted dry with a soft cloth. It may also be cleansed and recharged using sage, incense or moonlight.
Origin
Common sources include Madagascar, Brazil, India, South Africa, Australia and the United States.
Availability
Caramel jasper is relatively common and found in various locations around the world. It is generally not considered rare but can vary in quality and size. Specimens of exceptional size or quality may be more valuable.
